In support of Small Business Saturday and as part of its commitment and support to small businesses, Stevenage Borough Council in partnership with the FSB and Wenta are holding a networking breakfast to support local businesses to secure public sector contracts.

The Public Sector Procurement event will be held on Tuesday 27th November at 7am at the Business Technology Centre, Bessemer Drive, Stevenage SG1 2DX

Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign to support, inspire and promote the UK’s 5.5 million small businesses. This grass roots campaign focuses on highlighting small business success and promoting local independent businesses. Small Business is Celebrating its 6th anniversary this year. In 2017, an estimated £748m was spent on the day. Over 115,000 tweets were sent on the day itself reaching more than 115 million with #SmallBizSatUK trending at number one in the UK.

Stevenage Borough Council recognises the significant importance of small businesses to the local economy and as part of its activities to support small businesses to grow a thriving and enterprising economy, is once again committed to the Small Business Saturday initiative, to ensure more local businesses receive the benefits from this national campaign.

The Public Sector Procurement event will provide delegates with first-hand knowledge with:

  • Gaining an understanding of the procurement process and guidelines within Hertfordshire
  • Understanding the tender documents requirements
  • Understanding the evaluation model in action and gaining an insight on common mistakes
  • Receiving top tips for tendering and how to improve bids
  • Hearing about forthcoming opportunities

The event will also provide an opportunity to hear testimonials from other businesses that have gone through the procurement process and their success.
